SALT HELP

Frequently Asked Questions

Supplying over 10,000 tonnes of salt every year to homes and businesses over the UK, PureSalt are the experts in salt no matter what you need…

The standard size for most products is 25kg. 10kg bags of tablet, crystal and granular – with a handle for ease of handling – are also widely available. Block Salt only comes in 8 kg packs (two 4 kg blocks in a bag with a handle). Some products for commercial use can be supplied in 1 tonne bags (IBCs) – please contact our commercial sales team on 01728 745 910 or email salt@kindwater.co.uk for more information.

For any order under 250kg total, this will be delivered via courier delivery packed into boxes by our team with quick and secure delivery directly to your door. For local deliveries, the PureSalt team may deliver on our local van.

Palletised delivery is used for larger quantities of bagged salt, from 480kg. Pallets up to 1000kg will be unloaded to the kerbside using a tail-lift, or pallets over 1000kg will need to be unloaded with a forklift.

We deliver as little as 1 box nationally by parcel carrier, with each box containing 1 x 25kg, or 2 x 10kg, or 3 x 8kg and as standard we offer up to 10 boxes delivered via courier. Larger quantities are delivered on pallets i.e. quantities of 20 x 25 kg or 50 x 10 kg or 60 x 8 kg (and above).

For orders delivered via a courier, you will receive a tracking number for our courier through email when we despatch your order. If you have added a mobile number to your order, then you will also receive a text with a 1-2 hour time slot on the day of delivery directly from the courier.

For local orders delivered by our van, an email will be sent the day before delivery letting you know that your order will be delivered in the next 24 hours.

For orders delivered via pallet, an email will be sent the day of despatch and will be delivered within 2-3 working days. At request, delivery can be requested for a specific delivery date.

Most vacuum salt products are supplied on standard UK pallets (1200 mm x 1000 mm). Block Salt is supplied on Euro pallets (1200 mm x 800 mm), as are most sea salt products.

For 25kg products a full pallet has 49 bags, with 39 & 20 bag options for those without a forklift. For 10kg products, a full pallet has either 120 or 100 bags (depending on product), with 97 & 50 bag options. For 8kg block, a full pallet has 144 bags, with 120 & 60 bag options.

If your property is serviced by a standard bin lorry, then we should be able to provide a pallet delivery. Narrow roads or properties directly on a busy road may not be suitable for a pallet delivery. If you are unsure, please talk to us if you need any advice about providing safe access.

A kerbside delivery is delivered to the nearest accessible point on the kerb or roadside rather than directly to your door. The pallet will be lowered to the ground using a tail-lift, and the driver may move the pallet a short distance over suitable, level ground; however, the customer has final responsibility for moving and unloading the salt.

Pallet carriers will use a tail-lift to offload a pallet up to 1 tonne (39 x 25 kg or 97 x 10 kg or 120 x 8 kg). Heavier pallets will require a fork-lift to unload, which you must provide. Unloading by hand directly from the vehicle is not possible under any circumstances.

Most fine salt and some granular salt is treated with anti-caking agent to reduce its tendency to stick together. However over several months, some salt to salt bonding will start to occur. This is normally easily rectified by dropping the bag a couple of times on its end from shin or knee height.

Tablet salt is made by compacting fine salt into tablet shapes. Any rough edges on these tablets will rub during handling, leaving a small amount of fine salt in the bottom of the bag. A little salt dust is harmless, but larger amounts should be thrown away.
